Happy 2017!
Before we look into today’s topic, let me first wish you a very happy 2017! I hope it will be a great year for you and the ones you love.
Looking back on 2016 I noticed that there was a lot of incomprehension. It seems as though we understand each other less and less. And that worries me.
Surround yourself with People who think Different
Today’s topic is: Surrounding yourself with people who think different, to combine forces.
One of the most important things that differentiate human beings from other animals is that we can take advantage of the knowledge of other individuals. So if we take that advantage away, what does that mean?
I’ve always loved surrounding myself with people who think different. Other people can come up with angles on your problem that you could never think of.
These days the algorithms of search engines and all kinds of social media tend to confront us with only people and opinions that are very much like ours. This means that we lose an opportunity to test our ideas against different opinions. And, guess what, this also means that we won’t learn from each other.
So I encourage you to surround yourself with people that think different, that come from another background, and that have learned different skills because that is what makes us stronger in the end.
